Eye problems treated in our clinic

These are some of the most common problems that we treated in our clinic, but not a comprehensive list of all eye problems that we treated. Additional information can be found at the National Eye Institute website, or by clicking the icon above a listed eye problem below.

Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)

AMD is an eye disease that can blur your central vision. It happens when aging causes damage to the macula — the part of the eye that controls sharp, straight-ahead vision.

Macular pucker

A macular pucker is a rare eye condition that can make your vision wavy or distorted. Most of the time, it happens because of normal changes in your eye when you get older.

Diabetic Retinopathy

An eye condition that can cause vision loss and blindness in people who have diabetes. It affects blood vessels in the retina. If you have diabetes, it’s important to get a comprehensive dilated eye exam at least once a year.

Macular edema

Macular edema happens when blood vessels leak into a part of the retina called the macula. This makes the macula swell, causing blurry vision. There are many different conditions that can cause macular edema. The most common one is diabetic retinopathy. When diabetic retinopathy causes macular edema, it’s called diabetic macular edema (DME).

Retinal detachment and tear

Detachments and tears occur when your retina is pulled away from its normal position at the back of your eye, typically accompanied by symptoms such as new floaters, flashes of light, or a dark shadow or “curtain” on the sides or in the middle of your field of vision

Macular hole

A macular hole is a rare eye condition that can blur the central vision. Macular holes happen when an opening forms in the macula — usually after being stretched or pulled. Most macular holes form because of changes in the eye that happen as you age.
